Mac & Barbara McCluskey bought the “Nelson Street Market” and renovated it into the “Backstreet Restaurant”.
In 2000 when Mac & Barb decided to retire the sold the Backstreet to their youngest daughter Kitty and her husband Keith Holloway.
Keith and Kitty continued to cook and slice all the meat fresh every day and have kept almost. everything the same as Mac & Barb had run things, but added a touch of their own.
They added a fabulous tuna sandwich as well as two new salads. The Caesar salad is quite unique due partially to the pistachios included. The spinach salad has craisins, pistachios and fresh, shaved parmesan cheese topped with a savory raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Backstreet established a reputation in the community for making the best sandwiches, which has always been served with a choice of Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Coleslaw or Lay’s Potato Chips, as well as a trip to our full pickle and fresh vegetable bar that also includes our famous homemade pasta salad.
